Letter of Referral

TUH is designated by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) as an “Advanced Treatment Hospital” which provides highly advanced treatment. In principle, patients who want to have a consultation at TUH must bring a letter of referral from other medical institutions otherwise, in addition to the regular first-visit consultation fee, you will be charged a "Sentei Ryoyohi (Additional Fee for a First-time Patient without a Referral*)" of 7,700 yen (medical) or 5,500 yen (dental).
Please note that the additional fee will also be charged for after-hours consultation from July 1, 2023.

  • * "Sentei Ryoyohi" is a system instituted by MHLW to promote the allocation of functions and activities among medical institutions, whereby initial treatment is provided by local hospitals and clinics (general practioners) and advanced or specialized medical care is provided by advanced treatment hospitals.
